The problem with this was that users did not know that their passwords were being attacked until after they had been breached. In addition, the hackers who broke in had full access to all of the information that was available on that particular computer. The other problem with this system is that some users chose easy passwords that allowed the hackers to access their accounts with ease. This issue has been a subject of debate for a long time and while there have been many solutions proposed, Facebook has yet to implement any of them. These solutions include having a secondary password for the user which would be separate from their username and password; this would make it harder for hackers to bypass Facebook's security measures. Another solution is giving users an option in terms of how many characters they want in their passwords, shorter passwords are harder to break than long ones. The next question is who was behind the attack that compromised Facebook's security? While there has been a lot of speculation, the answer to this question is rather simple. In order to answer this question one must watch the news as more information is revealed by Facebook as well as other online news sources. In addition, one must consider some of those who would benefit from such an attack. For example, if a government wishes to spy on its citizens this would be a good way for them to do so since they could gain access to a great deal of personal information through it.
