Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a 1865 novel written by British author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre. The book was initially titled Alice's Adventures Under Ground, a name which fans and detractors alike found confusing. In 2011, The New York Times asked Lewis Carroll's step-nephew Jasper Griffin to write the introduction for an e-book version of "Alice's Adventures under ground." From the publisher:This newly revised edition of the original text of the classic tale of Alice, who falls down a hole into Wonderland, is presented in full color with illustrations by Pauline Baynes. It tells the story of her journey through the world this enchanting author created. Its familiar characters and creatures can be recognized in many stories told and retold over the years. In 2013, the University of Michigan Press published a new reproduction of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". The book contains a transcription of the 1865 original text, a translation by David H. Kelsey based on the Victorian English translation by John Tenniel, and a new introduction by Jasper Griffin. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is one of the most widely read books in history. The books popularity grew with its many adaptations in formats across the world. Alice is a young child when she first enters the realms of Wonderland and it is implied that she is in her mid-childhood in age (around 7 or 8 years old). As she grows older, she has found herself growing legs and even gaining an older appearance. Alice's height varies greatly depending on what media or medium she is shown in. In video games, statues, comics, animations, movies, books and other media are all different sizes. Some are short while others are tall. It appears to be more of a height difference depending on artist styles. Alice is shown to be tall in some media and shorter in others. Despite her growing up, Alice does not seem to be mature enough to realize her situation and view of the world. At one point, she calls herself a 'little girl' when she was only 7 years old, which is strange considering how old she was when she was first introduced into Wonderland. Being that young, it is possible that Alice did not understand what happened to her or where she came from at such a young age or time of life. She attended school with other girls and had friends with whom she could play and interact with around the world. cfa1e77820
